Finding the Good: KONA Inspired Winner Mike Thompson

Diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at 10 years old. As a child, he was told he wouldn’t live a long life and many things would be impossible.

75 surgeries, 2 bone marrow transplants, and a 12 hour facial reconstruction to rebuild his jaw after a tumor was discovered. He was told he may never walk or run again because his fibula was removed to reconstruct his jaw. Lung capacity has been severely compromised from years of chemotherapy, he’s lost 40 percent of his hearing, and his growth has been stunted.

Mike Thompson to race the Olympics of Triathlons – The Kona World Championships. Dubbed as the TOUGHEST endurance race on earth.
